The logic and movement behind the legalization of cannabis is growing and in time it will end the prohibition of this era. The truth is that cannabis, like silver and copper, poses a major threat to the current debt and death paradigm. Cannabis has been demonized for generations by very powerful industries and individuals. It began with prominent propagandist William Randolph Hearst when cannabis threatened his large investments in lumber. Soon, other industries seized the opportunity to criminalize this miracle plant with thousands of commercial, industrial and medicinal uses. How many fewer people would be on pharmaceutical drugs if cannabis were legalized? How many fewer men would be in the largest prison system ever in human history if cannabis wasn't listed as a class 1 drug above cocaine and meth? An estimated 2.5 million alcohol-related deaths occur each year, and yet there has never been a cannabis overdose.
 The "2018 Silver Shield Legalize Nature" campaign seeks not only to talk about the logic behind the decriminalization of cannabis, but also to address the other major challenge, namely public perception. Cannabis suffers from a bad public image where anyone who smokes cannabis is considered a "stoner". Heidi Wastweet's sculpture "Legalize Nature" seeks to draw on the golden era of movies that glamorized cigarettes to change this image. The sculpture symbolizes the millions of people who lead very normal and successful lives using cannabis. They and others should no longer live in fear of something that is a gift from God.
